Flood Sacks 11 Communities In Jigawa Council.

At least 11 communities have been confirmed sacked by raging floods in Ringim local government area of Jigawa state

The council chairman, Shehu Sule Udi disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Ringim Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs) Camp calked for urgent intervention to curtail further disaster.

He said the communities where ravaged and displaced by a perennial flooding killing many person, destroyed hundreds of houses and farmlands and other properties as a result of overflow of Tiga Dam in the neighbouring Kano state.

The communities affected by the disaster, according to him were Dabi, Majiyawa, Dingare, Gabarin, Yandutse, Malamawar Yandutse, Cori, Gujaba, Sankara, Auramo and Garin Gada among others.

Udi said the local government had evacuated the victims and relocated them to Internally Displaced Persons Camps (IDPs) camps in Ringim and Gerawa.

He said the local council had also provided them with food, good drinking water and medication.

The council chairman however urged state and federal governments and other individuals as matter of urgency to come to the rescue of the affected victims.

Malam Ibrahim is one of the flood victim in Majiyawa village, said the flood had swept their homes away and all of their properties including foods and properties.

He appealed to the relevant authorities to urgently intervene by providing the affected victims with relief assistance to enable them regain their lives.
