To check fake certificates and results, the Nigerian government-owned National Examination Council (NECO) has unveiled an e-verify platform.

The NECO E-verify platform is coming at a time when the technology-pact Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), struggles with its integrity, over the alleged falsification of a UTME Score by a 19-year-old, Nmesoma Ejikeme.

Unveiling the NECO e-verify platform in Abuja, Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Akon Eyakenyi, says by this introduction, Nigeria is on the path to ensure more authenticity of her school’s results anywhere around the world.

In their separate presentations, the Education Ministry Permanent Secretary, Daniel Adejo, NECO Registrar, Professor Dantani Wushishi and the Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, we’re agreed that the initiative will provide data protection for all results in Examinations conducted by NECO, and help strengthen the country’s international image.

According to the Nigerian government, the platform will provide organizations and foreign institutions with easier means of confirming and authenticating schools’ results.
