The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun SAN has assured existing and 5,500 matriculated students who had or will choose not to heed to wise counsel and decide to tow the path of hooliganism that the management of the University will fish them out and unleash the full weight of the law on them.
Fagbohun who issued this warning during the institution’s 2018/2019 matriculation ceremony revealed that out of 42, 000 qualified applicants the university was able to admit and matriculate 5,500 students.
He described the matriculating students as “the Chosen Ones” saying the only way to reciprocate this privilege is to totally dedicate themselves to their studies and ensure that they are not distracted by any negative vice that can cut short your dreams.
“The onus now lies on you to ensure that you strive hard to further raise the bar. This can only be achieved when you dress responsibly, eschew violence, cultism, drug addiction, prostitution, examination malpractice and other vices that are inimical to your success as a student of our institution.” he said
The VC who prides the Institution as an institution that propels her students to pursue their dreams called on parents to join hands in bringing the best out of the students
During his motivational speech to the students, Dr. Wusu Ashiribo Senapon, noted that academic excellence goes beyond making good grades or actively participating in class but can best described as the optimal development of one’s intellectual capacities and skills in service to mankind.
“Academic excellence entails going the extra mile to achieve your set goals. It requires a thorough follow through.” he said
