DisCos Confirm National Grid Total Collapse As TCN, AEDC Decline Comment

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has confirmed total collapse of the National grid Wednesday midnight, alerting its customers of the cause of the total blackout in its franchise areas.

This is even as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in charge of the National grid is yet to give explanations on the probable cause of total collapse of the transmission system throwing the country into total blackout.

Also, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) which franchise areas include the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) declined calls put through to the head of public affairs, Willie Etim.

However, the EEDC through a statement by its Head, Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, confirmed that the system collapse occurred 12:40 am Thursday, 2023.

According to him, “The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred  at 12:40am today, 14th September,2023. This has resulted to the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.

“Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide service to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”

Only few days ago, TCN had through a statement by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, blown the company’s trumpet on achieving 400 days without incident of system collapse.
