Court Dismisses Suit Challenging Jigawa APC Governorship Primaries

The Federal High Court sitting in Dutse Jigawa state has thrown out the suit challenging the conduct of the May 26 governorship primaries by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

While ruling on the case filed by a former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Farouk Adamu Aliyu on Wednesday, the presiding judge, Justice Hassan Dikko, described the case as lacking in merit and subsequently dismissed it.

Aliyu was one of the governorship aspirants for the election, which was won by the incumbent deputy governor of the stat, Umar Namadi.

Therefore, by the latest development, the candidacy of Namadi as the governorship flag bearer for the 2023 general elections has been affirmed.

It would be recalled that had Aliyu filed a case seeking for about eight reliefs which includes asking the court to declare that the ruling APC has no governorship candidate in Jigawa State for the 2023 polls

In his reaction shortly after the judgment, Aliyu’s lawyer, Abdul Rahman Mukhtar Abdullahi said he would need to consult his client before the next line of action.

In his reaction to the outcome of the Judgment, the Chairman APC chairman Jigawa state, Aminu Gumel described the judgment as a victory for democracy.

He then called on all party members to unite and join hands together to ensure the party’s victory at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.
