Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday paid a sympathy visit to the victims of the October 14 petrol tanker victims in Majia, Taura local government area.
The former, president, who was accompanied by three of his ministers, and his Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Boss Mustapha donated the sum of N10 million to the families of the victims.
Buhari, who flew into Dutse from Borno state visited the injured victims who are currently receiving treatment at the Rasheed Shekoni Federal Teaching Hospital, where he prayed for their quick recovery.
The former leader, who was later received at the Presidential Lodge, Government House Dutse, by the state deputy governor, Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel on behalf of his principal, Umar Namadi, urged the people of the state to consider the incident as an act of God.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery of those who are currently recuperating at the various hospitals and their families, adding as Muslims, “We should accept the fact whatever happens must be with consent of Allah, as such, we must take heart.”
The deputy governor expressed the gratitude of the state government with Buhari for finding time to visit and the donation of N 10 million to the families of the deceased and the injured assuring that the fund would be judiciously utilised for the benefits of the targetted people.
Asked what should be done to prevent the recurrence of such incident, Buhari told reporters, that, “We must some of these as part of the development process and learn to be careful in future.”
Among the former ministers on his entourage were the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Ibrahim Isa Ali Pantami, his Aviation and Water Resources counterparts, Send. Hadi Sirika and Engr. Suleiman Huassaini Adamu respectively.
