A lawmaker, who represents Agege Constituency I, Mudashiru Obasa, has been re-elected as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Obasa was re-elected on Monday after the resignation of Mojisola Meranda who stepped down as the Speaker of the House.
Obasa’s re-election followed the nomination of a former Majority Leader of the House, Noheem Adams, representing Eti-Osa Constituency 1.
Prior to Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda’s stepping down as the Speaker, the members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, had taken turns to eulogize her for her leadership qualities and expressed optimism that she would in time to come occupy more higher positions than the current one.
Shortly after her resignation, the house adopted motion for the election of a deputy Speaker. She was subsequently nominated and it was adopted without any opposition.
Similarly, motion for election of Speaker was moved and Hon. Obasa was nominated and adopted without also any opposition.
Obasa who was re-elected was administered oath of office and sworn-in as the Speaker. He expressed gratitude to the members of the House and APC Lagos leaders who were there to witness his reinstatement.
It would be recalled that Hon. Meranda had spent 43 days as Speaker following the impeachment of Hon. Obasa as the Speaker of the House.
