The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended its warning strike for another two months (Till May 14th).

The decision to extend the strike was taken at the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja last night.

There is indication that at the expiry of the extension time, the strike will move into indefinite stage should the Federal government still remain adamant in fulfilling the contents of the existing memorandum of understanding between ASUU and Government.

This is disclosed in its official Twitter handle @ASUUNGR early this morning.

ASUU had rejected Federal government’s renegotiation team, alleging that it was a ‘Delay Tactics’ By Federal Government.

It will be recalled that the union, declared a one-month warning strike on February 14, to protest non-implementation of the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reached with it.

Also, ASUU has insisted that on the adoption of its Universities Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) to be approved for paying lecturers instead of the old method which is the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
