The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has assured the public that under his administration, education will remain a priority, giving the world another phase in driving growth and development.
Ambode gave this information on Thursday at the Lagos State University (LASU) 22nd convocation ceremony which took place at the school auditorium.
Ambode who was represented by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Oluranti Adebule, in furtherance assured that initiatives and strategies that will align the university with the requirements and demands of the 21st century will be put in place

He explained that these initiatives and strategies will help to bridge the skill gap that has made most of the graduates unemployed.
Addressing the Graduands, he congratulated them for a successful completion of their various post graduate academic courses and also reminded them that the certificates issued to them was for the journey ahead “it is now left for you to put in place the knowledge you had to good use for the promotion of economic development, peace and progress of our nation” she said
Speaking on the school’s responsibilities, Ambode said “we have the responsibility to continue to ensure that the academic standard of this great institution is sustained and taken to a higher level, as a government we share responsibilities with all stakeholders in the university committee to maintain integrity in certificate issued by the university. On our part, we remain committed to our vision to make this university a true citadel of learning in higher global ranking”.
He also pointed out that the institution was established four decades ago by the founding fathers whose vision were to make the institution a world class tertiary institution that will produce employable and qualify graduands for both the public and private sector and also a centre for excellence for research and development.
“LASU has calved a niche for itself among the committee of tertiary institution in Nigeria” he said.
