AIICO Insurance Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to performance excellence and retail market expansion as it hosted its 2026 Annual Agency Retreat in Abeokuta, Ogun State, bringing together financial advisors from across the country to celebrate outstanding sales achievements and chart a strategic path forward.
The retreat, which drew agency leaders from regional offices nationwide, underscored the strength of AIICO’s retail distribution network at a time when the insurance industry is navigating heightened regulatory standards and evolving market dynamics.
Management used the platform to align its sales force with the company’s long-term vision of professionalism, governance and digital transformation.
In an executive session, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Babatunde Fajemirokun, described the ongoing evolution of industry standards as the most significant regulatory shift in more than two decades.
He noted that the increasing emphasis on compliance, risk-based capital and digitisation reflects a more structured operating environment, adding that AIICO is strategically positioned to lead in a technology-driven era.
He urged agency leaders to execute with discipline, ownership and measurable performance outcomes.
The highlight of the gathering was the awards ceremony held on February 21, where top-performing agencies and advisors were recognised for exceptional production and consistency.
Ego Uzochukwu emerged as overall best-performing agency for the year, climbing from second position in the previous ranking, while Henry Onwuchekwa and Lawson Njoku secured second and third places respectively.
The company also honoured its top 10 agency leaders whose teams delivered billion-naira gross written premiums across regions, alongside recognition across multiple performance categories.
Long-service awards formed a significant part of the evening, celebrating advisors who have dedicated between 10 and 40 years to the organisation.
Among those recognised were Odozi Christopher and Bernard Showunmi for 35 years of service, while Okoroafor Chijioke received special commendation for an exceptional 40-year tenure. Executive Director and Head of Retail Business Division, Gbenga Ilori, commended the agency force for maintaining strong performance despite macroeconomic headwinds, describing their resilience as central to AIICO’s continued growth and insurance inclusion drive nationwide.
The retreat concluded with renewed emphasis on sustaining a high-performance sales culture anchored on innovation and disciplined execution, as AIICO deepens its retail footprint in a competitive and reform-driven insurance landscape.
