The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Bauchi Region, has called on the Bauchi State Government to fast-track the allocation of land for the construction of two proposed transmission substations in Alkaleri and Toro Local Government Areas.

The appeal was made by the Acting General Manager (Transmission), Bauchi Region, Engr. Muhammed Bello Ahmed, during a courtesy visit to the Bauchi State Ministry of Land and Survey on Monday, 2 November 2026.

He stressed that timely land allocation is critical to the successful implementation of the projects, which are designed to strengthen transmission capacity and enhance bulk electricity supply across the state.

Ahmed commended the state government for its engagement with host communities and for safeguarding critical transmission infrastructure through the enforcement of Right-of-Way (RoW) regulations, including the removal of illegal structures erected beneath high-voltage transmission lines.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaibu Alhaji Mohammed, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the projects.

He assured TCN that the Ministry would facilitate the land allocation process and intensify efforts to protect vital transmission facilities through improved security measures.

The proposed substations are expected to play a significant role in boosting power transmission and improving electricity delivery to residents and businesses across Bauchi State.
