UniAbuja Community Mourns Prof Gbilekaa, Expresses Shock Over Demise

The University of Abuja (UniAbuja) management and community have been thrown into mourning as they expressed shock and sadness over the sudden death of one of their distinguished scholar, Professor Saint T. Gbilekaa.

The management UniAbuja expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Saint T. Gbilekaa, who died on Tuesday 20th August 2024.

Gbilekaa, a distinguished scholar in dramatic theory and criticism from the Department of Theatre Arts, Faculty of Arts, passed away at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) after a brief illness, according the acting vice- chancellor, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, in an email to the University community on Tuesday.

Maikudi stated, “The loss of Professor Gbilekaa is a profound one for the University of Abuja. His contributions extended well beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless students, colleagues, and practitioners in the field of theatre arts.”

“Our condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students around the world, all of whom will deeply miss his intellectual influence greatly.”
