emPLE Nigeria and Ecobank Nigeria have stepped up efforts to promote financial literacy and deepen insurance penetration through a Children’s Day initiative designed to encourage parents to introduce their children to financial planning and protection from an early age.

The initiative, tagged “Protecting Little Dreams,” brought together children and their parents in a campaign aimed at fostering conversations around responsible financial habits, long-term planning and the role of insurance in safeguarding families against unforeseen circumstances.

The campaign culminated in an award presentation held at Ecobank’s Head Office in Lagos, where five families emerged winners and shared cash prizes worth N1.2 million. The overall winner received N500,000, while the first and second runners-up received N300,000 and N200,000 respectively. The remaining two winners received N100,000 each.

Speaking on the initiative, the Managing Director of emPLE Life Assurance Limited, Mr. Jolaolu Fakoya, said the programme forms part of the company’s strategy to make insurance more accessible, relatable and easier for Nigerians to understand.

According to him, strengthening insurance awareness requires engaging families early and helping children appreciate the importance of financial protection as they grow.

“One of our key priorities this year is to deepen insurance penetration by making insurance easier to understand, more accessible and more relevant to everyday Nigerians. The Protecting Little Dreams Initiative reflects that commitment by introducing families to the importance of financial protection through a simple but meaningful experience,” he said.

Fakoya added that the initiative also encouraged parents to build lasting financial values within their families, noting that protecting loved ones should be a deliberate decision rather than a reaction to unforeseen events.

Also speaking, Head of Bancassurance at emPLE Nigeria, Mrs. Aderonke Smith, said the collaboration with Ecobank was intended to help families understand the importance of planning for the future through financial education and accessible insurance solutions.

She noted that the initiative was designed to empower parents with the knowledge and confidence required to make informed financial decisions while securing the future of their children.

As part of the programme, participating families received the emPLE Term Life Plan to provide financial protection for their loved ones in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

According to the organisers, the initiative reflects the shared commitment of emPLE and Ecobank to advancing financial inclusion through education, collaboration and wider access to financial protection solutions.
