Breaking News…..COVID-19: Federal Government Extends Eased Lockdown By Two Weeks

The Federal Government has extended the eased restrictions of socioeconomic activities and movements by Two weeks, saying that Nigeria is not yet ready for total reopening of the economy as the nation is still grappling with control of Coronavirus pandemic spread.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who is the Chairman of the nation’s COVID-19 Presidential Task Force, made the disclosure while speaking during the daily media press briefing in Abuja.

He said the extension which has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, takes immediate effect.

Boss Mustapha urged all to ensure that all continue to comply with the rules and guidelines earlier marshalled out earlier while easing the total lockdown.

He specifically mentioned compulsory wearing of face masks while in public places, social distancing, night curfew between the hours of 8 pm and 6 pm and restrictions on interstate movements.

PTF Chairman said security agencies would be briefed on the need to ensure stricter enforcement of the guidelines/regulations.

He maintained that Coronavirus has come to stay and there is no hope of discovery of the drugs for cure till 2021.
