Two LASU Graduands Emerge Best Graduating Student

2017/2018 Overall Best Graduating Student, 2017/2018 Lagos State University (LASU), Ridwan Oladotun OLA-GBADAMOSI has called on Buhari’s Government to provide continuous funding to ensure that workshops and laboratories measure up in standard thereby ensuring the right application of Information and other technological means to solve humanity problems rather than using existing ones for Cyber bullying and other Crimes.

LASU for the first time in its history had two best graduating students, Ridwan Oladotun OLA-GBADAMOSI from the Faculty of Engineering and Nneka Karen ENUMAH of the faculty of  Science with CGPA of 4.88 in its 23rd Convocation Ceremony.

While addressing the Graduands Today at the 23rd Convocation Ceremony for the award of Diplomas, first degree, prices and admission to higher degrees held at the University’s auditorium, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun SAN noted that this convocation is unique.

“With particular reference to first degree graduands, we will be graduating fifty seven(57) first class students. Never in the history of the Lagos State University have we had it so good. This convocation is unique in the sense that two graduands,Ridwan oladotun OLA-GBADAMOSI from the Faculty of Engineering and Nneka Karen ENUMAH of the faculty of Science graduating with a CGPA of 4.88 to emerge as overall best graduating students.”

The VC also mentioned that Ola-Gbadamosi gained admission into the University with 8As which made him the then best graduating student of Government College, Ijanaikin.

The young Champ who gave the Validatory Address, revealed how he was able to cater for his personal and academic needs saying that he reared chicks with the fund awarded to him by the management of his Secondary school, Government College, Ijanaikin as the Best Graduating Student.

He told the congregation that his tuition fee which was N284,050 (Two hundred and eighty-four thousand, seven hundred and fifty naira only) was a big Task for his Dad who was also gathering funds for his two daughters tertiary education fees.

He implored the federal government to provide continuous funding to ensure that workshops and laboratories measure up in standard to what obtains in advanced climes, provide funds to support students’ industrial and technical visits on a weekly basis while also creating an environment that would attract more of foreign investors and collaborators in the field of Engineering.

According to him, this would ensure the Country to have the right manpower to drive its industries and in the long run improve the gross domestic product capacity of the country, while reducing unemployment simultaneously adding that Nigeria will equally experience youth’s application of Information and other technological means to solve humanity problems rather than using existing ones for Cyber bullying and other Crimes.

“I like to appreciate the Lagos State Government for its commendable efforts geared towards improving the quality of education in the State. The Ready.Set.Work Initiative under the Lagos State Ministry of Education has equipped us with latent skills needed to readily impact our communities. In a developing country like Nigeria, I believe it is the duty of the government and philanthropists to provide financial support for exceptional scholars through postgraduate study scholarships in advanced countries to encourage academic excellence and promote nation building.” He said

The 23year old overall best graduating student, Miss Nneka Karen ENUMAH told newsmen that she didn’t suffer distractions from her fellow students because she scared everyone that tried to come close to her with her rigorous study routine, “when they recognize that what you are here for is one thing and one thing only it actually scares them away.”

“Consistency and Focus are my two watch words, My lecturers were very tasky, sometimes they set limits that seem unattainable, but if you put in work, you will attain their limits. I had financial issues because I came from a poor background so it wasn’t easy actually.”

Furthermore she revealed that her next step is to get her masters degree in a top notch institution and a doctorate degree in Mathematics adding that she has interest in Academics.
