Stranded US evacuees at the airport

United States nationals set for evacuation are currently stranded at Murtala Mohammed International airport, Lagos.

Hundreds of the evacuees were wearing sad faces when they were informed by the concerned authorities that the evacuation flight from Dulles may not be on ground due to certain reasons not known to them.

The US nationals who had already check-in by the airport authorities were seen collecting their baggage from the arrival baggage belts with the plan to go back home.

According to investigation the flight was cancelled due to the inability of the airplane to over-fly some countries.

Overflight permits are authorisations from Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) to overfly that country’s airspace.
