The West African Examination Council has announced that the first series of the 2020 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) registration for private candidates will commence on Tuesday, October 15 and end December 31, 2019.
The council announced this in a statement signed by the Head of National Office (HNO), WAEC, Mr. Olu Onikpekun.
According to the statement, 24 subjects would be available for examination and would mainly be an urban based examination as the registration will be done online after obtaining the registration PIN.
“Registration for WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2020 – First Series will be online. After obtaining th registration PIN, candidates should log on to www.waeconline.org.ng for registration, Candidate should also note that the registration procedure has been designed to accommodate biometric features that will be used for validation of the examination”
“The normal registration period is from Tuesday, October 15, 2019 to Friday, December 31, 2019. Candidates are expected to pay a registration fee of Thirteen Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty Naira (13,950) only,” It stated.
On Candidates with special needs, it stated that they will also register online like other candidates but must clearly state their challenges.
“Candidates who wish to register for the examination after the close of entries may be accommodated as ‘Walk-in-Candidates” provided they register not less than twenty four hours to the scheduled time of the paper(s) they intend to write. The walk-in-candidates fee is N25, 000 only,” it stated.
It would be recalled that WAEC began conducting two series of the WASSCE for private candidates in 2018. The first series for 2020 will be conducted between the months of January and February, 2020.
