Top News: Senator Ahmed Lawan Is Senate President Of 9th Assembly

Finally, the fierce battle over who becomes the number three citizen of Nigeria came to an end as the government-backed candidate, Senator Ahmed Lawan emerged as Senate President of the 9th National Assembly.

His emergence followed the defeat of the rival contender, Senator Ali Ndume after voting at the hallowed Senate chambers of the National Assembly complex.

Senator Ahmed Lawan was declared as the winner of the polls as he defeated Senator Ndume after garnering 79 votes as against 28 votes got by Senator Ndume after a total of 107 votes were cast.
