In a bid to boost performance and innovation, Agile Practitioners Association of Nigeria have harp on the need for Nigerian business leaders to practice Agile as an approach to curb stagnancy.

This is just as the American multinational technology company, Microsoft has urged software Developers in Nigeria especially SMEs to take acquisition of the DeVops tool to cut costs and save time.

Speaking at the 3rd edition of the Agile Nigeria Conference tagged ‘Agile DeVops Day: Accelerate Your Delivery’ held recently in Lagos, the Chairman Agile Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Abiodun Osoba revealed that Africa companies are regenerating themselves so they can innovate more effectively.

She stressed that practising Agile places business leaders ahead and serves better ways of working and doing business “Whether you are well into your agile journey or have only just embarked, you’ll come away with new knowledge and skills to help guide you on your path.” She said.

The Chairman, Wakandabilily and the Q-Platform, a UK based company who spoke on the African Culture Vs African Corporate Culture stated “The good behavior of listening to our elders does not longer apply to the business culture where we need innovations.”

“We need young people to design the product, when we have old managers do not see the product as the young people, so these are the kind of issues that comes up in an agile culture that is trying to establish itself. In as much as Agile is very destructive I believe that you can enlighten and educate people to see a better way and that is what we are doing today,” he said.

On adopting DeVops, Cloud architect of One Commercial Team, Microsoft, Ifeanyi Anieke said “just as every other company outside Nigeria and also within Nigeria are beginning to adopt DeVops because of the big advantage it gives to an organization, so what we are trying to say is that every organization no matter how big or small can benefit from DeVops, it has end to end solution for every single thing a company into development means.”

“It is a tool we use within Microsoft, it has caused great changes internally in our company, it is a tool we built for ourselves we now say people should join us to enjoy this tool, so it has helped us alot, we are much more responsive than we used to be to customer feedback and all and this is been reflected, so we are saying companies in Nigeria should come use this tool as well.”

According to him, The tool is actually for SMEs, saves time and money for them, “if you have a company of five to six developers you will get it for free, there are a lot of free stuffs associated with it, it is very affordable, I think they should come look at it,” he said.

Also Speaking, During his presentation on DeVops, Cloud and Kubernetes, the Co-founder of Cognetiks Consulting, Obi Ikegulu stressed that DeVops helps to manage competing priories by integrating everyone associating with software development and deployment into single, highly automated workflow with a shared focus.

Giving a review on the effectiveness of practicing Agile, Software Developer, Seamfix Nigeria LTD, Akinmukomu Oluwaseun stated “Since we started Agile the difference, it has help us to properly restructure the way we deliver product to our customers in contrast to the way we do it before, where we will first of all get enough requirements and approval before we start the development of a particular feature now we get just enough to start work now with that we try to modelarize.

“I don’t see our company stopping agile because it has really helped, what I see is the emergence of devOps tool that will enhance Agile,” he said.
