Police Confirms 11 Persons Dead, 15 Injured In Multiple Suicide Attacks On Borno

At least 11 people including three suicide bombers have been confirmed dead by the Police Authorities when suspected members of dreaded Boko Haram sect infiltrated some parts of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on the eve of the Saturday postponed elections.

The incident took place around Gwozari, an outskirt of Jiddari Polo general area of the metropolis.

According to Police statement signed by the Police Commissioner, Mr. Damian Chukwu on Saturday revealed that the incident happened at about 5:40am.

The statement reads: “On-the-spot assessment at scene revealed that at about 0540hrs on Saturday morning, gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists & suicide bombers infiltrated Gwozari/Kushari in Polo general area of Maiduguri, shooting sporadically and detonated Improvised Explosive Devices ( IEDs) strapped to their bodies.

“Eleven people including three bombers died while fifteen others sustained injuries.

“The injured ones have been hospitalised and now receiving medical treatment at State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri.

“Clearance operation is ongoing by own teams of Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Police Mobile Force (PMF), Civil Defence and Military,” the CP said.-The State
