There was pandemonium Wednesday night 30th September 2020 at Oyigbo boundary between Rivers and Abia states as hoodlums suspected to be proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members allegedly abducted and killed a Police Officer.

The deceased Police officer who is said to be a native of Enugu State sources said was attached to Special Anti-robbery Squad(SARS) headquarters in Port Harcourt

It was learnt that the officer said to be on special duty at Oyigbo reportedly took permission from his Boss to look for something to eat at about 9:30pm when he was abducted and taken to a bush path and slaughtered by his assailants

Inside source told our reporter that passersby who saw the deceased corpse alerted the Police.

It was learnt that it took the combined efforts of officers attached to tactical units like Operation Sting, Anti-Cultism and others to curtail the rampaging hoodlums who later retreated back to a neighbouring state.

An officer who was part of the operation who pleaded anonymity revealed that the hoodlums mutilated the body of the deceased officer indicating that the officer was killed in a very cruel manner.

It would be recalled that the spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, SP Nnamdi Omoni in a pre-Independence day statement warned hoodlums acting in the guise of proscribed IPOB members to stay off the state or face the full wrath of the law.

SP Omoni had revealed that the Rivers State Police command made adequate deployment to curtail activities of miscreants that may want to cause trouble on Independence day.
