Osun State College of Education, 2 Others Closed Over Ilesha Protest

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has ordered the closure of three higher Institution namely: Osun State College of Education, Ilesa, the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa and the Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke.

The closure of the schools was following the violent protest that rocked Ilesha metropolis over the shut-down of power supply to six Local Government Areas in Ijesaland.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Adeniyi Adesina, the Governor condemned the disturbance of the peace in Ilesa, describing the development as “uncalled for”

He warned that the government would not hesitate to take further drastic action, should the need arise, in order to protect lives and properties.

The governor frowned at the physical attack on journalists on legitimate assignment whose equipment were also destroyed by the protesters and assured citizens of the state that the government was on top of the security situation in Ilesa and in all parts of the state.

Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to Ilesha town, as armed security men were seen in patrol vans moving around the town.

Public and privated secondary schools, Banks in the town also opened for academic activities.
