The General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Barrister Emmanuel Ugboaja, will this morning, at Kuru, Plateau State, graduate from the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
He is among 88 Policy Makers and Executors drawn from different sectors of the society, who participated in batch 43 of the Senior Executive Course of the Institute.
During the course, participants travelled through several African and European countries to understudy issues in development strategies.
With the successful completion of the course which lasted 10 months, Ugboaja and his Co-Participants will in a grand ceremony, graced by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, be awarded the eminent membership of the Institute and henceforth, have the acronym, mni, suffixed to his name.
The Natîonal Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, is a policy formation center for Bureaucrats, Academics of high level excellence, other Citizens of mature experience and wisdom, drawn from all walks of life, Private Sector Leaders, Army Officers and Medium-rank and Senior Civil Servants.
Founded in 1979, it serves as a high level Center for reflection, research and dialogue, where issues of society, particularly as they relate to Nigeria and Africa, in the context of a constantly changing world are discussed.
It is reputed to be a model institution for inculcating the highest national ideals and achieving the best results from a national deployment and utilization of resources.
Barrister Ugboaja is the first in the history of Nkpa, his homeland in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, to receive the mni award.
And back home, about 700 kilometers away from Kuru, venue of the event, his Kinsmen and friends are overjoyed with the donning of an extra feather on the cap of the one they fondly call Emma or Comrade.
A Philanthropist and Social Activist, Barrister Ugboaja has been in the fore front of providing succour to Nkpa Indigenes. From education to social infrastructure, and to promoting religious harmony, his people hold him in very high esteem
President General, Nkpa Central Development Union, (National) Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Nwaji, while thanking God for protecting Ugboaja through the course, also thanked him for the various support he gives to the union.
In his congratulatory message, another member of NCDU, Mr Victor Nwaji, said “We always cheer and thank Barr. Ugboaja each time he makes a huge donation to bail Nde Nkpa and NCDU out of one need or another and this he often does.
” Let us make him know by doing something to show our love and appreciation to him. This occasion is affording us the opportunity to do so”
One of the big sons of Nkpa, Mr. Charles Madubuike, said, “Congratulations to a worthy son.May God grant him grace to excel more”.
