The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has received strong support from the 10th National Assembly.
This affirmation of support came during a visit by the NIA leadership to Honourable Ahmed Jaha, Chairman of the House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters of the House of Representatives in Abuja.
NIA Chairman Olusegun Omosehin led the delegation to express their appreciation for his dedication to the insurance industry’s growth and development.
Omosehin also congratulated Jaha on his appointment as Chairman of the House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters and requested additional support, particularly in pushing for the Consolidated Insurance Industry Bill’s attention and passage into law.
Furthermore, the NIA Chairman sought collaboration and support on matters affecting the insurance industry and emphasized the importance of enforcing compulsory insurance laws and insuring government assets. Honourable Jaha, in response, commended the NIA executives for their visit and pledged his support to elevate the status of insurance in the country.
He promised to streamline federal assets for more accessible insurance coverage and to advocate for adequate budgetary allocations for insuring government assets. He also expressed his commitment to advancing the Consolidated Insurance Industry Bill to bolster the insurance sector’s growth.
Jaha stressed the vital role of trust in the insurance industry and emphasized its significance in the nation’s progress, underscoring the importance of insurance practitioners in the country’s journey to prosperity.
