Hundreds of passengers were alleged to have been stranded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), as three out of four scanning machines failed to work for over three days.
This is barely few days after NCAA and FAAN had promised Airlines operators of resolving causes of flight delays and cancellations.
BusinessDay report had showed unbelievably long queue of passengers waiting to scan their boxes and enter the departure lounge and it is only one queue instead of four.
Many of the passengers who were impatient were negotiating their way in without having to scan their luggage which poses a huge security risk for everybody while Passengers who patiently wait risk missing their flights.
One of the passengers who was also affected by the unfortunate situation said that this has been happening for few days now and no one in Abuja seem to care.
“I am now on board to London and the pilot is offering an apology to passengers but pleading some passengers are still stuck out there and we have to wait,” the passenger said.
Recalling, at the stakeholder’s forum organised by the Authority at the NCAA annex, recently at Ikeja Lagos. The management of the NCAA and FAAN in their response to the challenges and causes of delayed flight and flight cancellations as enumerated by airlines operators assured the operators that all these challenges will be tackled very soon.
“All airlines are therefore warned to always adhere to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs 2015) and Passengers Bill of Rights in their dealings with passengers. Passengers must get value for their money,” posits NCAA.
