NANTA Set To Hold AGM In Kano, March 25 – 27

The National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) is set to hold the 44th edition of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 March, 2020 in Kano.

The President of the association, Mr. Bankole Bernard who made the announcement Today at a press conference in Lagos disclosed that over 500 participants are expected at the event.

The three day event with theme ” National Carrier: A remedy to tourism and economic development” promises to be graced by international speakers from Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Germany and Turkey.

However, Bernard stated that the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and many other dignitaries has shown interest in the event.

Speaking on the selection of the speakers, the president said “we went continental and global in search of platforms to engage other deep facilitators within our trade environment, thus bringing Nigeria into focus and recognition by global industry influencers.

On expectations from the event, he said we shall also be looking at the role of aviation industry in Nigeria’s Economic Development and the Impact of Technology in our travel business.

“At the AGM, we hope to launch an awareness programme driven by the world health organization and the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and management to disperse information which is critical to managing the situation,” he added.

According to the president the idea to have the event in Kano was birthed out of the quest to help them push up their tourism presence in the north significantly, to let the whole world know that the North that they are making so much noise is able to have a significant event and nothing happened

“We will be having the Dorba show, visit the Emir of Kano, Kano State Governor who has shown interest to be part of our AGM,” he said.

On the agency’s position on National Carrier, he said “we are not against the national carrier but it should be properly structured to an extent we are able to use our national carrier to build tourism.

Also speaking, on the location of the event, the Vice President, NANTA, Lagos, Mrs Susan Akporaiye the choice of location said we want to send the right message that just because of a few incidences do not make the whole place bad. Life is still going at the North, so that is why the focus is there.
