Defence Minister Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has assured the people of Jigawa state that the government of his successor Umar Namadi would perform better than his own.
Making the assertion during the official groundbreaking, Flagg off and foundation laying ceremony of the 1500 houses in Dutse the state capital on Saturday, the minister, who is the immediate past governor of the state described the project as a fulfilment of one of the campaign promises of the governor.
The project being handled by the Abuja based Cosgrove Real Estate Investment Ltd comprises 3-bedroom detached and 2-bedroom detached spreading across the five Emirates headquarters and towns across the state.
The breakdown of the distribution of the projects shows that 600 units of the houses will be built in Dutse the state capital; 200 will be built in Hadejia; 150 each would be built in Babura, Kafin Hausa and Birnin Kudu to take care of the housing requirements of university staff in the two LGAs, while 100 each would be for a start constructed by Kazaure, Gumel and Ringim.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, Badaru also lauded the governor for his strides in other sectors in the state, especially in the area of empowerment which have endeared the governor to the vast majority of the people across the state.
His words, “Since my arrival, in the state, everybody I see is happy and smiling and they’re telling me that I have kept my words. We’ve done well. We have a leader, we promised you a great leader and he’s in deed a great leader, he has delivered on his mandate so far and this is a small portion of the what he would do in the course of his leadership.
“During the campaign I told you that he’s very honest, straightforward and active and that he’ll deliver and that is what he’s doing and by God, I have been vindicated with all the developments going on across the state and with this I can assure you that he will do better than what I have done.”
Badaru maintained that going by the recent national security index report just released, Jigawa state has been on listed as the “most peaceful state in the country”, attributing the positive development to the cooperation and sustained prayers of the people and asked for more of such prayers.
The minister described the construction of the 1500 housing units across the state as “a part of our campaign promises and I assure you he’s going to deliver in those promises and other promises and that’s is part of our joy, of which I’m sure will perform better than me, this is what I have told you you and I have been vindicated.”
The governor described the projects as a continuation of the sterling leadership trails left behind by the minister. He believed that the project, apart from providing decent and affordable housing for the people would provide people with decent means of livelihood through jobs and on the spots skills acquisition.
The Managing Director of the construction firm, Alhaji Umar Abdullahi pledged to deliver to quality and timely projects that would stand the rest of the time.
He added that his company has made its name both nationally and internationally, noting that the project was a golden opportunity for him to pay back to his home state for all the care he had received from the state.
