N-BA Elects SholaTinubu As President

The Nigeria-Britain Association (N-BA) has elected Mr. Shola Tinubu as the 49th President to run the affairs of the bilateral institution for the next one year. Mr Stephen Forbes became the Vice President.

Speaking on the purpose of the election the immediate Past President, Mr. Femi Onabolu, said the election of the new executives was to sustain the tempo of progress made by the Association in promoting relationships between Nigerians and Britons for common good and provide a platform for a sustainable relationship for development amongst members and their communities.

Onabolu stressed that the Association had previously initiated and implemented strategic road map aimed among others, at more youth-focused agenda, under the “N-BA FuturePresent” initiative as well as organized talk shop on the economy, agriculture and vocational activities.

He highlighted challenges of sustainability and growth which he said was being combated through robust online platforms and well-articulated membership value proposition aimed at meeting its membership projection of 500 by the year 2020.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Shola Tinubu promised to deploy further strategies in putting the Association in the prime position it deserves by extending its presence beyond Lagos. He also commended the efforts and initiatives of past executives in moving the Association forward.

N-BA was founded in Nigeria in 1969 as a corresponding Association now known as the British –Nigeria Education Trust which is based in the UK and has HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburg as its patron. In 2009, the Association was incorporated as a Trust, a non-profit making organization, dedicated to developing relationships between individuals and organisations in Nigeria, Britain and Commonwealth residents in Nigeria
