Sen. Shehu Sani has frowned at African leaders’ quick habit of condemnation of military coups while at the same time endorsing fraudulent electoral outcomes in African countries.
He said that electoral outcomes fraudulently obtained tantamount to coup in all standards since it erodes the wishes of the people.
Sani in tweets while reacting to the military coup in Mali, further observed that since the Malians appears happy with the coup, their wishes should be respected by the international community.
According to Senator Shehu Sani,
“African leaders are in the habit of endorsing rigged elections and condemning coups, when both are the same and the former begets the later.
“The Coup in Mali is a serious set back to democracy in Africa and a bad omen for other democracies in the subregion; But the people of Mali who have been thru tragic experiences of intractable political crisis appear to be fully in support of it.We should respect their wishes.”
His tweets are against the backdrop of condemnation of the coup by the ECOWAS Heads of state and government.
