Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi has warned his political appointees and other public office holders of the consequences of laxity and misuse of power.
He, has, therefore, changed the appointees in the state to work within the government’s objective of providing succour to the people, especially, in the light of the prevailing harsh economic reality facing Nigerians.
He gave the warning at the swearing-in of the newly appointed 33 Special, Technical Advisers and Assistants at the Banquet Hall, Government House Dutse, saying their appointment was a call to service, not for them to lord it over the people.
With the latest appointment, the number of political appointees by the governor has gone up to over 150. He added that the large number of Advisers and Assistants was aimed at operating all inclusive government with effective representation down to the grassroots.
Namadi told the new aides that, he selected them for the job after a wide consultation and he is not expecting anything from them other than to help his government to move Jigawa state forward.
” There are so many unfortunate narrations about public service delivery and result rips from billions of Naira spent every year in Jigawa state”.
“We are in government to tackle these challenges, such as high rate of child and maternal mortality, high rate of out-of-school children, poverty rate,and also improve our agricultural productivity, learning outcome, access to quality basic healthcare, wealth generation, growth and development “
“We have 12-point agenda designed as a framework in our cause to make “Jigawa Great” to achieve this we must work hard, embrace the spirit of patriotism, selfless commitment, fair and just, avoid laxity and impunity in delivering our public responsibility ” Governor Namadi stated.
He however assured the new appointees that he would do everything possible to provide them with enabling environment for their work, but warned that he will not accept anything short of result .
The event was witnessed by thousands of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) supporter’s as well as the immediate families of the appointees.
