Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has on Saturday mourned the passing of Kano-based elder statesman, businessman and renowned philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
Dantata died in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 94.
Namadi had in a statement on behalf of the government and people of Jigawa state, extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people and government of Kano State, the business community, and indeed all of Nigerians for the loss of one of the nation’s most respected sons.
He remarked that Dantata was a pillar of compassion, integrity, and generosity—an icon of industry who devoted his life to nation-building, economic growth, and uplifting the less privileged.
“Through decades of business excellence and quiet philanthropy, he left an indelible legacy that shaped lives across Northern Nigeria and beyond.
“His wisdom, simplicity, and unflinching faith inspired generations; he was not only a successful entrepreneur but a moral compass and elder whose voice carried weight in moments of national reflection.
“Governor Namadi prays to Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family and all who mourn this monumental loss.
“Jigawa stands in solidarity with the rest of the nation in mourning a giant who dedicated his life to the service of humanity,”
