The National Salaries Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) has exonerated itself from any involvement in the computation of arrears of salaries, allowances and pensions.
A statement signed by the Acting Chairman, Ekpo Nta, Esq, explained that this clarification became necessary as some unknown person had called and sent text messages to workers and pensioners to contact an ‘unknown’ person in the National Salaries Incomes and Wages Commission who is with their files, compiling and computing the arrears of their salaries, allowances and pension as the case may be.

Nta expressed concern that in the process, gullible workers and pensioners had been defrauded, and urged workers and pensioners to disregard such telephone calls and text messages and to report same to law enforcement agencies.
The statement further clarified that the Commission only conveyed to the Ministry Department and Agencies (MDAs) approvals for implementation of revised salaries, allowances and pension.
It however explained that where payment of arrears is involved, it is the MDAs that compute it for their workers, while the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) computes the arrears of pensions for pensioners where necessary
