The Jigawa state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) said it has discovered a newly born Baby girl in Kandahar B Quarters, Hadejia local government area, northeast Jigawa.
The command spokesman, Adamu Shehu said the discovery was made around 5:20 am during early morning Muslim prayer period.

According to Shehu the baby was abandoned by a yet-to-be-identified mother in a dilapidated building, by one Zakar Mohammed, a resident of the area, who was returning from the mosque after observing morning prayers.
He added that on hearing the cry of the baby that was placed by a netted fence meant to deter animals from gaining access to a planted guinea corn in the building, he immediately reported the incident to the Ward Head, Ballaji Ali, who informed NSCDC personnel at the Divisional office.
“On reaching the scene, the Baby was taken to the General Hospital Hadejia to ascertain her health condition and was certified healthy by a medical Doctor.
“The Baby was thereafter handed over to officials of Social Welfare Department, Hadejia LGA for proper care while investigation is launched to fish out the culprit (s) to face full wrath of the law.”
Meanwhile, the Corps has announced the sudden death of one of it’s operatives in a motorcycle accident in the course of his official duties.
The officer, Usman Audu, who was attached to the Kiyawa Divisional Office of the Corps was said to have been involved in a motorcycle accident on his way to invite a respondent after receiving complaint from a complainant at his duty post.
According to Shehu, The accident occurred by the Kiyawa local government secretariat at around 1300hrs when the motorcycle, which he was being conveyed rammed into a wheelbarrow fully loaded with concrete blocks, thereby sustaining serious injuries, while the motorcycle rider escaped with minor lacerations.
“He was rushed to the Primary Health Care Center in Kiyawa and later transferred to the General Hospital, Dutse where he was confirmed dead.
He has since buried in his birthplace, Gidan Tilo village, Kiyawa LGA in accordance with Islamic injunctions. The deceased left behind mother, wife and eight children.:”
Shehu quoted the State Commandant of the Corps,Musa Mala as. commiserating with the Corps, families, friends and colleagues of the deceased and invoke God almighty to give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
