Gov Namadi Signs Jigawa 2025 Budget Of N698. 3 Billion Into Law

The Jigawa state Governor, Umar Namadi on Tuesday signed the state’s 2025 appropriation bill of N698.3 billion into law.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the Council Chambers, Government House, Dutse saw 76 % of the amount as capital expenditure.

The governor, after appending his signature to the bill said it was aimed at fast tracking Jigawa state infrastructure and human capital development.

According to him, “This year’s budget of N698.3 billion naira is highest budget in the history of Jigawa state which aimed to restructure the state into greater state”.

The governor, who was flanked by his deputy, Egr. Aminu Usman Gumel and the Speaker of the State Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin among other state officials, thanked the state lawmakers for the speedy passage of the budget.

He also thanked his cabinet members, the ministries, departments and agencies for providing the lawmakers with technical expertise of the budgetary process

Namadi however, urged the MDAs, technical officers and other officials saddled with the responsibilities of implementing the law to avoid any corruptive tendencies and be accountable to their activities and quickly discharge their duties as stipulated in the budget.

The development followed the Monday’s evening passage of the appropriation bill of N698.3 billion at the house flow.

The Assembly also approved N184.4 billion as the 2025 budget for the 27 local government councils in the state.

It would be recalled that the Appropriation Committee Chairman of the House, Hamza Ibrahim had presented the report of the committee containing over 62 recommendations, which the lawmakers unanimously adopted

The budget is made up of N90,730,520,000 personnel cost; N70,171,960,00, recurrent; and N537,397,000,520 for capital projects.

On the local councils’ budget, the committee made seven recommendations providing the setting aside of 17% for pension, primary healthcare, and universal basic education.

Dangyatin, who presided over the sitting, expressed the hope that the budget would be implemented to provide people-oriented projects across the state.

The Speaker, who represents Miga constituency warned the MDAs against haphazard implementation of the budget assuming that the lawmakers would carry out strict oversight functions on the 2025 budget to ensure that its implementation is in compliance with the law.
