Gov. Namadi Appoints Bauchi Monarch As Chancellor Of SLU K/Hausa

Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has named the Emir of Katagun in Bauchi state, Alhaji Baba Umar Farouq as the new Chancellor of the state-owned Sule Lamido University, (SLU) in Kafin Hausa.

The Secretary to the State Government of, (SSG) Malam Bala Ibrahim, in a statement on Saturday in Dutse, said the appointment was in accordance with Section 8 of The Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa Law, 2013.

Additionally, he said, Section 2 of the Second Schedule of the university law supports the appointment, granting the Visitor of the University the authority to appoint a Chancellor for the institution.

The SSG noted that a high-powered delegation of the state government led by himself, has already presented the appointment letter to the new Chancellor at his palace in Katagun.

Ibrahim explained that extensive consultations were made before arriving at the decision to appoint the Emir as the new Chancellor, adding, “The Emir is a recognized and respected elder statesman and indeed an eminent personality of proven integrity.”

The SSG also confirmed that he was part of the delegation that presented the appointment letter.

Noting, “I am therefore glad to confirm to you that the Emir has accepted the appointment and assured the Governor and the people of Jigawa of his readiness to serve.”
