In a valedictory speech, Mr. Edwin F. Igbiti, the 51st President and Chairman of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), recapped his two-year tenure and its significant milestones.
Igbiti delivered the valedictory speech on July 17, 2024, at the Insurers House, 42 Saka Tinubu Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Igbiti, who began his tenure on July 15, 2022, expressed gratitude to God, his family, and key industry figures for their support during his two-year presidency.
In his address, Igbiti highlighted the theme of his presidency, “Building a Sustainable Legacy,” emphasizing the importance of continuity and progress in the insurance sector.
He detailed significant achievements, including the digital reinforcement of the Institute’s operations, launching e-membership cards, and improving the digital presence of CIIN.
According to him, Igbiti’s leadership focused on increasing insurance awareness at grassroots levels, especially among youths. Initiatives such as the CIIN Quiz for Secondary Schools and mentorship programs were key to this effort.
He also noted infrastructural and personal development achievements, like renovating the CIIN Secretariat and advancing the Victoria Island Project.
The event saw attendance from notable industry leaders, including Immediate Past Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olorundare Sunday Thomas, and current Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin.
Igbiti acknowledged the support of the CIIN Governing Council, committee members, and the entire Secretariat staff.
He concluded by pledging his continued commitment to the Institute and expressed heartfelt thanks to all who supported him throughout his presidency.
