He has also directed the termination of the appointment of the Director General, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura with immediate effect.

Osinbajo made these know through two separate terse statements signed by Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Acting President.

It would be recalled less than a month ago the residences of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and that Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu were also sealed off at the wee hours ostensibly to prevent them from attending the day’s legislative function at the National Assembly but for divine intervention, Saraki was able to got out while Ekweremadu couldn’t not.

The climax of the DSS siege reached today as they barricaded the entrances of the National Assembly Complex, disallowing most early arrival senators who arrived the gates.

The two separate statements read:

(A) ACTING PRESIDENT CONDEMNS UNAUTHORIZED TAKEOVER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has described the unauthorized takeover of the National Assembly complex earlier today as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all accepted notions of law and order.

According to him, the unlawful act which was done without the knowledge of the Presidency is condemnable and completely unacceptable.

By this statement, Professor Osinbajo is consequently assuring Nigerians that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.
