The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adegboye has urged Nigerians to refrain from engaging in any reprisal attacks against South Africans.
Speaking prior to delivering a sermon at the Holy Ghost Service which theme was “Lifted into glory”on Friday night at the Redemption Camp, Ogun State, he noted that it would be more dangerous for Nigerians to engage in any acts of retaliation against the South Africans who are currently perpetuating xenophobic attacks.
He reminded Nigerians that for the sake of fellow Nigerians who are in South Africa, nothing should be done to harm any South African resident in Nigeria.
Pastor Adegboye who said even if the Federal government choose to evacuate every Nigerian from South African down to Nigeria, wondered if the government is capable of providing them with jobs.
He said of course we know why Nigerians went to South Africa, adding that nothing will stop them from finding their way back even if they are repatriated.
The General Overseer advised that Nigerians should avail the Federal government the advice and wisdom to handle the situation at the government level or diplomatically.
He urged Nigerians to show love and care to any South African found in their midst instead of hatred or retaliatory disposition.
Saying that in any riotous situation, it’s only few individuals who perpetuate the act, he maintained that only few South African are engaged in the series of xenophobic attack against non-indigenes.
Therefore, he said that the majority of innocent South Africans should not be punished through retaliatory acts because of the action of few individuals.
