COVID-19: Abuja Municipal Council Shutdown Markets Sunday

The Executive Chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido has ordered the closure of all markets within the Council with effect from Sunday 29th march 2020 in order to curb the spread of CoronaVirus.

A statement said the markets are those directly under the supervision of the Area Council.

The Hon. Chairman has also directed the Department of environment in the Council to immediately move to the markets Sunday 29th March for proper fumigation.

The markets to be fumigated are Utako, FHA Lugbe, Relocation market Lugbe, Gwagwa, Nyanya, Aco mini, Jabi Park, Gwarinpa, Kugbo furniture, Kugbo spare part, Karshi, Karu, Apo fish market respectively.

All traders in the above markets were advised to cooperate with the authority and abide by the directives for their safety and that of the entire residents.

All traders and residents were to note that these markets remain closed till further directives as Hon. Candido enjoins everyone to stay safe at this trying period, according to a statement by Patience Olaloye, Head of Information, AMAC.
