COVID-19: 32 Health Workers Test Positive In Kano As Nigeria Infections Now 2,950

32 health workers in various hospitals across Kano State have tested positive for the coronavirus as current total confirmed infections in Nigeria increased to 2,950.

The Kano state government confirmed the 32 new infections via its Twitter handle in the early hours of Wednesday bringing the current total number of confirmed cases to 397 with Three recovered and discharged while eight persons have died.

Although the government didn’t specifically state that the 32 cases were all health workers, but Channels Television quoting the Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in the state, Sanusi Bala, said they were health workers.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), has confirmed 148 new COVID-19 cases in the country, taking Nigeria’s total cases to 2,950.

Of the new cases, 43 are in Lagos, 32 are in Kano, while 14 are in Zamfara.

Ten are in the FCT, nine in Katsina, seven in Taraba, six in Borno and Ogun, five in Oyo, three in Edo, Kaduna and Bauchi, two in Adamawa and Gombe, and one each in Plateau, Sokoto and Kebbi.

481 patients have recovered so far and have been discharged, while 2,371 remain active in the country.

The number of samples tested stands at 19,512, while 98 persons have died.
