The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) is set to host the maiden edition of its Insurance Week, a landmark initiative aimed at deepening public engagement and awareness around insurance in Nigeria.
The event, themed ‘Insurance for All: Securing Nigeria’s Future’, was announced yesterday by the CIIN President/Chairman of Council, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, and is scheduled to run from June 27 to July 4, 2025.
In a media briefing held in Lagos, Ilori described the upcoming Insurance Week as a strategic effort by the Institute to enhance visibility for the insurance sector, drive collaboration among stakeholders, and promote insurance literacy nationwide.
She said “What makes this edition particularly unique is that, for the first time, the activities will run concurrently in four locations, Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and Kano.”
“This is not just another industry gathering, we’ve designed the Insurance Week to leave a lasting impression on the insuring public, industry professionals, and the general populace. It marks a significant shift in how insurance is perceived and engaged with in Nigeria.”
The week-long event will feature a range of activities including public sensitization campaigns, workshops, exhibitions, and stakeholder forums. Each event is designed to highlight the relevance of insurance in everyday life while opening up fresh conversations on how insurance can contribute meaningfully to national development.
Providing further insight, Mr. Eddie Efekoha, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and a former CIIN President, revealed that months of detailed planning have gone into the event to ensure it delivers maximum impact.
“The entire industry is rallying behind this initiative,” he said. “We’re looking forward to a week that not only creates awareness but also drives patronage and trust in the insurance sector.”
Participating insurance brands will use the platform to showcase their products and services, demonstrating the value they offer to Nigerians across diverse segments. The event is also expected to encourage both healthy competition and collaboration within the industry.
Ultimately, the Insurance Week signals a fresh chapter for the Nigerian insurance industry — one that positions insurance not just as a policy but as an essential tool for securing lives, businesses, and the future of the nation.
