… Assures Pursuit Of Late Icon’s Ideals
The National Committee for the Burial of the late President General of Ohan’eze Nd’Igbo, Engr. Chief Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, MFR, OFR, CFR, has rolled out a five-day programmes targeted at giving a befitting honour to the diseased business icon, political stalwart and philanthropist with effect from October 16, 2024.
This is even as the Committee members assured that they would pursue the ideals for which Chief Iwuanyanwu was known for despite his absence.
Announcing the programmes and the the respective dates during a Press briefing held at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, the Committee Chairman, Sen. Ben Obi (Ojeligbo) CON, said the programmes would be kick-started with Day of Tributes at Eko Hotel in Lagos on 16th Oct, 2024.
He said this would be followed by Abuja Day of Tributes at National Christian Centre, Abuja on October 18 .
Further, Sen. Obi said that Enugu Day of Tributes would be held at Okpara Square Enugu on October 26th, followed by Owerri Service of Songs on October 29 while the commendation service is on November 1. This would be rounded off with Imo Day of burial at Atta, Ikeduru, his country home on the same November 1.
Some who were present at the briefing include: Sen. Osita Izunaso, Osita Okechukwu, Dr. Mrs. Nwadiuto Iheakanwa, Chief Obiora Okonkwo, Chief Jide Iwuanyanwu, Prof. Okey Ikechukwu, Rtd Gen. Onyeabo Ihejirika, Sen. Ekwunife, among others.
Responding while fielding questions from Journalists, the National Secretary of the Ohan’eze Nd’Igbo, Amb. Okey Emuchay, MFR, said that Chief Iwuanyanwu had nothing as regrets about his life as he was able to achieve successfully virtually every he set his mind to achieve while alive.
Amb. Emuchay who doubles as the Secretary of the National Committee for the burial, asserted that Chief Iwuanyanwu believes in equity, justice and fair play, adding that these informed his position to canvass for creation of additional one state in the South East geopolitical zone as other zones had at least six states and some seven states.
Further, he pointed out that Chief Iwuanyanwu was also at the forefront of urging the Federal government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as one of the key measures towards restoring peace and security in the South Eastern states.
He said even though, it is yet to be realized before his demise, the Ohan’eze Nd’Igbo Worldwide will continue to pursue the course Chief Iwuanyanwu believed in.
The National Committee articulated that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo, is one of the few Nigerians who can be described as a gift of God to this country. He touched many lives, communities and sectors in his long and eventful life. He invested heavily in nation building, group cohesion and the struggle for equity in our national life.
Ahaejiagamba performed with distinction in the following areas, where he left lasting and indelible impressions.
In media sector of the economy, as publisher of Champion Newspapers, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ahaejiagamba, brought a strong and credible voice into Nigeria’s media space. The newspaper presented informed perspectives, projected public interest news and also maintained a balanced reporting of critical national development and policy issues.
Also, business and aviation, Oriental Airlines, the flagship of aviation service in the South East route was the brainchild of Ahaejiagamba. He set it up, nurtured it and created new paradigms in the aviation services by focusing on what is important to the people.
Beyond setting up the airline, he put down two million dollars of his hard-earned money towards the construction of the now-very-strategic Sam Mbakwe Airport in Imo State.
His construction company, Hardel and Enic left its mark in road construction, the building of estate and, especially, in the construction of impressive academic blocks in some of the nation’s universities. He was a success story in every line of business he ventured into and touched more lives than we can mention here today.
He made our people proud with Iwuanyanwu Narionale football team, which became both a rallying sports platform and a symbol of group pride. Ahaejiagamba play at the highest level of national politics.
His political aspirations were also tied to his subsisting desire to positively impact the life of the people and help in driving using the best, and highest, global standards for responsible leadership.
