Chief Executive Officer, West Link Airlines, Captain Ibrahim Mshelia, has solicited for collective ideas and skills from the indigenes of Borno State to ensure that fortunes of the state are revived from its agrarian resources and trade.
Mshelia spoke shortly after receiving the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) Award at an event with the theme: Promoting Professional Excellence (Pilots and Aircraft Engineers in Focus)”, for his outstanding contribution to the development of aviation in Nigeria.
Mshelia who recently joined the Borno state guber race under the Labour Party (LP), spoke on his aspirations as governor of Borno state.
He said that his ambition was borne out of the selfless reason to change the narrative in his home state of Borno, especially with the current humanitarian situation there.
He said: “Borno has a lot to give and it would take ideas, dexterity and a hands-on approach to ensure that the state becomes viable again through its agrarian resources and trade. If harnessed right we have a comparative advantage in farm produce and we can tap into that and utilise it to develop the state.”
Mshelia also expressed appreciation to the executives of NAAPE and his professional colleagues and charged the body to always aspire to be models that other associations can emulate and to continue to be pillars of growth in the society and the nation generally.
Captain Mshelia established the first ever privately owned and funded pilot training school in the Sub Saharan Africa in Ghana, Mish Aviation where he has graduated tens of dozens of aircraft pilots.
