At least one person has been confirmed dead and seven other persons are said to have sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of collapsed building in Kabak community in kirikasamma local government area of Jigawa state.
Reports from the Information Unit of the local government council attributed the development to the heavy downpour over the weekend in kirikasamma local government headquarters and its environs
The torrential rainfall which reportedly occurred on Saturday night, September 6th, involved five victims who were hospitalised while two victims were discharged from hospital after being treated. But one person lost his life.
The council chairman of the local government, Muhammad Wakili Marma has reportedly paid a condolence visit to the victims of the disaster.
He described it as sad and unfortunate and asked the victims to accept the the development as an act of Allah. But he advised the people to steer clear of waterways especially as the rainy season is settling in seriously.
He further donated the sum of N 500,000 for medical expenses to the victims of the building collapsed and additional N100,000 or the deceased families.
