Buhari, Osinbajo Return To Country Homes For Guber, States Assembly Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday arrived their respective country homes to participate in Saturday, 18 March, Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

President Buhari on arrival in Daura, Katsina State, on Friday visited the palace of Emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Faruk Umar to express his deep condolences and that of the nation, following death of Hajiya Talatu, the oldest daughter. 

During the visit, the President paid tributes to the deceased, describing her as an epitome of motherhood who personified decency, compassion and a very good character. 

“I commiserate with you on this moment of sadness for the Emir, the Emirate Council and the people of Daura,’’ he said. 

The Emir thanked the President for the visit and wished him a peaceful and successful end to his tenure. 

Prayers were said for the repose of the deceased and the wellbeing of the President and the nation. 

Earlier on arrival in Katsina, the President was received at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport by the Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, the Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, Senator Bello Mandiya, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar, Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, Speaker of the State Assembly, the Chief Judge, and members of the State Assembly and Executive Council. 

On his part, the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, accompanied by his wife, Dolapo Osinbajo arrived in his hometown, Ikenne in Ogun State, ahead of the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections Saturday.
 
On arrival, Osinbajo held consultations with leaders and some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikenne Local Government at the Legacy Centre in the town. 
 
APC leaders who met with the Vice President included Member of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Adewunmi Onanuga representing Remo Federal Constituency and some Ward Chairmen and Local Government Councillors. The Ward Chairmen include Hon. Kunle Orelaja, Hon Niran Salau, and Hon. Segun Awomuti, while the LG Councilors included Hon. Idowu Matonmi and Kayode Shodiyan. 
 
While welcoming the Vice President, the APC stakeholders expressed appreciation for his national service and contributions in the Ikenne LGA. 
 
Osinbajo and his wife will be voting on Saturday at Polling Unit at Egunrege in Ikenne.
 
Prof. Osinbajo had earlier attended the funeral Service of Mrs. Hilda Adefarasin at the Guiding Light Church in Ikoyi, Lagos before leaving for his country home, Ikenne.
