A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and former 2019 Presidential Candidate for Young Progressives Party (YPP), Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari, for holding tight the post of Minister of Petroleum Resources since 2015.

He argued that the President ought to have appointed himself the Minister of Science and Technology and NOT Petroleum to make a statement of political priorities.

Moghalu canvassed this while featuring on Arise Television live programme on Thursday to examine the appropriateness of the allocation of portfolios to the ministers by the President on Wednesday.

In Twitter handles @MoghaluKingsley and @ARISEtv, further faulted President Buhari for ordering the restrictions of foreign exchange for importation agricultural produce into the country while subsidizing religious pilgrims.

He made case for introduction of policies that favour the youths and tap their potentials, noting that half of the nation’s population are youths.

According to him, “The youth are our future! We should be running our economy on rational data, not on failing policies that are obviously not working. Well over half of our population are youths, yet, the present policies do not address them.

“And I advised President @MBuhari that he should have appointed himself the Minister of Science and Technology and NOT Petroleum to make a statement of political priorities. Oil is a god of small things. We have worshipped it for a long time and we have not been blessed!

“Why will you subsidize religious pilgrimages with #forex but will restrict forex for importation of agricultural produce? We should measure our policies with the realities on the ground”.
