Breaking: Foreign Affairs Minister, Onyeama Tests Positive To COVID-19, Heads To Isolation Centre

Foreign Affairs Minister and bmember of Nigeria’s Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Geoffrey Onyeama has tested positive to Coronavirus.

The test done yesterday was the fourth so far had by the Minister since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Minister in a tweet through his Twitter handle @Geoffrey Onyeama.

He said although, the three previous tests turned out negative, the fourth was positive which he had after sensing “sign of a throat irritation”.

He is already headed to isolation in an undisclosed health facility.

According Onyeama in a tweet few hours ago Sunday, “Did my fourth Covid-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive.

“That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 #PTFCOVID19”.

Prior to disclosing his COVID-19 status, Onyeama gave updates of Nigerian evacuees, saying flight
“conveying 22 Nigerian evacuees from #Paris, has departed for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The flight is expected to arrive Abuja at 14:40 pm local time today, 19th July, 2020.

He said also that “Some of the evacuees are Nigerians in France, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Norway, Germany, Holland, UK and Canada. All passengers tested negative before boarding. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 #PTFCOVID19 .

“So far, a total of 93 Nigerians in Europe have been repatriated in the evacuation exercise coordinated by the Embassy of Nigeria in France, in cooperation with our Missions in #Germany, #Belgium, #Holland and #Hungary. #COVID19 #PTFCOVID19 ”
