Amid growing customer concerns over unreliable electricity supply and bills for power not received, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has launched a new digital platform designed to help customers monitor electricity consumption, report outages, track complaints and manage their accounts without visiting service centres.
The new MyPower Mobile and Web Apps, unveiled during AEDC’s Customer Service Week, allow customers to purchase electricity tokens, pay bills, report power failures and other service-related issues, and monitor the progress of complaints lodged with the utility.
The launch comes at a time when many Nigerian electricity consumers continue to grapple with intermittent power supply, estimated billing disputes and challenges in accessing timely customer support.
AEDC says the platform is intended to improve transparency, accessibility and responsiveness in customer service.
With the new applications, customers can view electricity consumption history, access bills and payment records, manage multiple meters and accounts, update personal information and verify the identity of AEDC staff before granting them access to their premises.
Speaking at the launch, AEDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Chijioke Z. Okwuokenye, said the initiative forms part of the company’s efforts to build a more customer-focused and digitally enabled organisation.
“Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. As their needs and expectations evolve, we must evolve with them. The MyPower Mobile and Web Apps are significant steps in that direction, using technology to give our customers greater control over how they interact with AEDC and access the services they need,” he said.
According to AEDC, the platforms consolidate key services into a single digital ecosystem, reducing the need for physical visits to business offices and enabling customers to carry out transactions remotely.
Chief Operating Officer, Engr. Blessing Ogbe, said the company would continue to use customer feedback to improve service delivery and strengthen engagement channels.
“For us, this launch is another step in how we are redefining the way we serve our customers. We are building a culture where customer feedback informs how we design our processes, improve our channels and deliver our services,” she said.
AEDC said the MyPower Mobile App is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, while customers can access the web version through the company’s online customer portal.
The utility added that the platform will continue to evolve with additional features aimed at improving customer experience and access to electricity services across its franchise area.
