AEDC Intensifies Cashless Policy, Migrates Specified Customers Since 1st February.

The Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) said it has concluded plans required for the full migration of its industrial, commercial and R3 residential customers to the cashless platform in compliance with the Order of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

NERC had through its Order issued on 30th December, 2019 directed all the DisCos to migrate certain categories of customers to the cashless platform in compliance with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the subject matter as well as in furtherance of efforts to aggressively cut down on the ATC&C losses in the sector.

The various electronic payment channels had been in existence and available for all AEDC’s customers for several years since it commenced its cashless drive in 2017.

In a statement by the General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Oyebode Fadipe, AEDC explained that the directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the supportive Order of NERC on the cashless policy was a welcome development as it has given more impetus to the cashless policy it started implementing in 2017, following the approval of its Board to commence the solution as part of the customer centric policy of the Company.

According to the statement, “This new cashless policy, is dynamic, easy and simple. It has the potential to strengthen our revenue base as a DisCo and improve payment convenience to our customers.”

“Customers can look forward to improved real time value for payments they make through any of the cashless solution channels”, the statement added.

AEDC customers are encouraged to use any of its 3rd Party vendors to pay online or with their mobile on Paga.com, KallakPower.com and Quickteller.com. Customers can also now make payments at any bank branch and at any bank ATM within the country.

AEDC has also made available various self-service kiosks in places such as the Army Estate in Kubwa, Area 3 in Garki, Gwarimpa, Jabi and Lugbe.
