Christopher Ezeafulukwe, AEDC's new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, has appointed a new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer in person of Mr. Christopher Ezeafulukwe, the erstwhile MD/CEO of Transcorp Energy.

This follows the immediate resignation of AEDC’s Managing Director Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi, who assumed office less than two years ago, precisely in March, 2022.

He resigned from Eko DisCo on the same position, to take up the post at the height of power tussles among core investors of AEDC early last year, 2022.

OPTIMUM TIMES recalls that the power tussles within the AEDC led to sweeping changes which culminated in the exit of top management of the company including its former Managing Director, Ernest Mupwaya and subsequent set up of five-member management team

An Interim Managing Director of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Engr. Akinwumi Bada was appointed to lead the team but he did not stay long before he resigned his position.

The latest resignation of Fadeyibi, may not also be unconnected with the latest acquisition of AEDC by Transcorp Power and restructuring exercise expected to take effect soon.

A brief made available to OPTIMUM TIMES by impeccable sources indicated that Fadeyibi’s resignation had since been approved by the AEDC Board and Executive Management Team (EMT) at its emergency meeting ostensibly prompted by his sudden resignation.

A brief confirming the change of barton reads: “This is to officially bring to our notice that rising from a meeting with the Board and EMT this morning, it has been officially disclosed that our dear MD/CEO *Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi* has resigned his appointment effective yesterday upon the ratification during the board meeting.

“Consequently, another MD/CEO in the person of *Mr. Christopher Ezeafulukwe,*  the MD/CEO of Transcorp Energy has been appointed as his replacement and presented today.”

Since privatisation exercise in 2012, the following Managing Directors had  headed the AEDC at one time or the other:  Neil Croucher, Dr. Ernest Mupwaya, Engr. Akin Bada,  Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi and the latest, Christopher Ezeafulukwe.

Christopher Ezeafulukwe holds an LL. B. degree from the University of Lagos, a B.L (second class upper division) from the Nigerian Law School, an LL. M from the University of Lagos and another LL. M in Energy, Environmental & Natural Resources Law from the University of Houston, Texas.

An alumnus of Lagos Business School and IESE Business School, Spain.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), and until recently a member of the Executive Council of the Association of Power Generation Companies.
